Hanneke Schipper-Spanninga will leave the Dutch Electoral Council. Starting 1 November, she has been appointed director of administrative support at the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. Who will be her successor at the Electoral Council is not yet known. For the time being, Rosalinde Hoorweg, acting Secretary-director, replaces her.
Hanneke Schipper had been working as Secretary-director at the Electoral Council since 2006.
She was already well acquainted with the Electoral Council, having acted In her capacity as team leader for the Electoral Council reinforcement project. ‘And by now I have seen almost every election. Except for the municipal elections But I see the preparations made for them now. This, too, makes it a good time to leave.’
Ms Schipper has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for over 18 years. So it is quite a change to switch to another ministry. But, on this subject she says: ‘I am really looking forward to it. The Directorate-General for Waterways and Public Works alone is already very extensive. The subjects are very concrete and tangible: roads, water, railways. Quite different from those of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are dealing more with structures.’
