Electoral Council

The Electoral Council is the central electoral committee for the elections of the Lower House, the Upper House and the European Parliament, and:
• determines the official election results;
• checks and registers the appellations of political parties wishing to take part in national elections;
• and it checks - and confirms - the lists of candidates in elections to the Lower House and the European Parliament.

Results of the 9 June 2010 House of Representatives elections

At 75.40%, the turnout percentage of these elections was below that of 2006 (80.35%). On Wednesday 9 June, 9,442,977 out of the 12,524,152 enfranchised citizens cast their votes. 9,416,001 of these were valid, non-blank votes. There were 8,829 blank votes and 18,147 invalid votes.
